This article in the New York Times cites a landmark study that shows symptoms of PTSD can last a lifetime if not treated, and that this appears to have the potential to shorten impacted people’s lifespans.  We need to make sure that  people with PTSD resulting from Intensive Care and hospital related delirium get help.  According to studies, one in three people leaving the ICU will have PTSD  — that is millions of people a year in the United States.
